First Weekly Blog Post

Thank you!  Thank you for your patience, your understanding and your encouragement during the start of our virtual program.  We know it was not the start any of us had envisioned or even hoped for, but if 2020 has taught us anything it is perseverance.  Here are a few things I wanted to make sure you are aware of.

Picture day is October 16th.  Times and the site are still being determined.  With over 600 virtual students this will take a bit to figure out how do do safely, but we are working on a plan and hope to have it completed and announced soon.

NWEA testing for K-8 students is coming.  You should be receiving an updated schedule from our Assistant Superintendent this week. This will all be done from home and will be proctored by our St. Joseph Staff.

Success Coaches we have hired most of our success coaches and they will be reaching out next week.  They will be conducting one on one meetings with each student as well as grade level google meets. Each grade level will have a google classroom and students are encouraged to attend weekly meets to check in with their classmates and share their experiences.  We are excited to get this going.  We are still hiring the remaining success coaches so we can lower the ratio of success coach to student.

Student Emails have changed due to our IT department needing to make a change to the student email lists.  All students now have their school issued email under their Edmentum account.  This is their student ID number @stjoebears.com.

Guardian Logins/Email Issues as most of you are aware Edmentum emails are not coming through to all internet providers.  They are aware of the problem and are working to solve.  Every student had a guardian login created and emailed out, but some have not received it because of the email issue.  At this time we are working to get a master list with passwords to be able to give you those logins.  As of this post, we have not yet received.  Contacting Edmentum directly continues for the time being to be the only way to gain access to that information.

Count Day is a BIG day for schools, but specifically our virtual students.  Wednesday October 7th is count day this year and we need your help to make it successful so we can receive our school funding. We want to make sure on that day that ALL of our SJVS students are logging into EACH class they have and completing at least one assignment on that day. Please mark that on your calendar.  You will get a few reminders as the date approaches.

THANK YOU again for all you are doing and for your amazing partnership.  We value you and your family at St. Joseph Public Schools and want this to be the best possible experience.  We will continue to strive to improve in all areas and look forward to a TREMENDOUS school year.

Welcome to St. Joseph Virtual School

This is my first blog and thus first blog post.  I am hoping to get this out each week to our families to help answer questions and keep you connected.  Stay Tuned!
